Regardless, using the Auto detected BIOS settings for the hard drive resolved the problems, and I have been able to install Windows XP using either FAT32 or NTFS partitions. Thanks again, and I hope this may help someone else down the road who decides to go by the book and manually set the hard drive BIOS settings.
